Team K

We are Heather, Matthew, and Shannon McAllister and we are raising money for the 2019 West Kootenay Walk to End ALS in honour of our mother, Kathleen McAllister, who passed away in November 2009. We are also walking in memory of our uncle Ken and our grandfather Andrew, both of whom also had ALS.

Kathleen was the light of our worlds and everyone who knew her called her a friend. She touched so many lives with her kindess, generosity, caring, thoughtfulness, laughter, and love. She was a fantastic mother, wife, sister, auntie, friend, coach, nurse, volunteer, and so many other things. She had a twinkle in her eye and joy in her heart. We miss her every day but her spirit is in each of us.

ALS is a fatal neuromuscular disease with no known cure, cause or effective treatment. The WALK to End ALS supports provincial ALS societies and their client service programs to help people living with ALS and their families, as well as the ALS Society of Canada’s investment in breakthrough research, the hope for an effective treatment, and a cure.

The walk is Sunday June 2nd at 11:00am at Lakeside Rotary Park in Nelson BC and we would appreciate anything you can give (money, your blessings, your participation at the walk).

Your support (in any form) means more to our family than words can say.

The Walk to End ALS is the largest volunteer-led fundraiser for ALS Societies across Canada. Family-friendly and fun, it unites Canadians in their desire to put an end to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Celebrate hope for a future without ALS. Honour those we have loved and lost. Show support for the 3,000 Canadians and their families living with the disease.Your generous donations support the best ALS research in the country and enable ALS Societies to provide community-based support to people and families living with the disease.

Please help us end ALS by signing up for the Walk or making a donation.

On behalf, of the ALS Society of BC board, staff, volunteers, ALS patients and their families, we thank you for your support!
